Darnestown is an unincorporated town located in the western area of Montgomery County, Maryland. The location is ideal. Because the Wedges and Corridors Master Plan for Montgomery County has identified
Darnestown as part of a "green wedge" the zoning is such that the minimum lot size you will find will be approximately half an acre, generally larger, with lots up to twenty acres.

Almost all homes are on septic systems, which helps determine the lot size, and also precludes smaller lots since half an acre is usually the minimum needed to meet the county's specifications for a septic system. Some homes have their own wells and some are served by WSSC for water.

Even though Darnestown has a rural atmosphere with wonderful spacious vistas, stores, schools and major roads are just a short distance away. Darnestown Elementary School is a National Blue Ribbon School and a library has recently opened just a half mile from the town.

The Greater Darnestown Civic Association is very active and publishes a quarterly newsletter, a bi-annual telephone directory and holds quarterly town meetings. The civic association boundaries include approximately twelve square miles and 1800 homes. There are also many social functions taking place sponsored by the civic association, neighborhood associations and the swim and racquet club such as a square dance in the fall, a spring cocktail party or picnic and softball team competition between the neighborhoods.

There are many recreation opportunitities close by. The Darnestown Swim and Racquet Club has swimming and tennis facilities with lessons and competition for all ages. Also Darnestown Park has softball and soccer fields and a playground. Nearby Quince Orchard High School has tennis courts and a track that can be used by the community. There is another swim and tennis facility on Quince Orchard Road that also has winter facilities.

Darnestown has so much to offer and is so unique to this area that it is a very desired community. For more information and a tour of the area, give me a call.
